Our Family Front Door Session
Summer of 2020 has been one for the books, which is something equivalent to what I would say in my teenage “Duh” years at this point. My good friend Maria over at Olive Light Images offered up some front door sessions over the summer and we jumped at the chance to get some photos snapped during this strange quarantine from life period. Putting on make-up and wearing something other than leggings and work out clothes felt so foreign it was strange. Getting everyone ready just so we could step out onto our front porch seemed to feel overwhelming already and we didn’t even have to drive anywhere. I know how hard it is to get all of your people ready and out the door for a photo, and there are definitely moments where you want to scream “I quit” before the first snap of the shutter.
However, once you make it to the shoot it is something I have never regretted, even if I wish I could shed a few pounds or buy some new clothes at that time. There is something sacred about just showing up as you are and documenting that time of life you’re in with the best you can offer at that time. When I look back I am grateful that we made it happen even if it caused some more gray hairs to come in along the way. I gain a sense of gratefulness and awareness that is priceless and it reminds me why I love to do what I do. Even in a year like 2020!
